As part of our continuing mission to feed our neighbors, Share the Table participates in a retail recovery program through our partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina (CENC). The program helps us to continue to stock our food pantry as we pick up donations from our local grocery stores.
Participating local grocery stores that help us help our neighbors include:
Surf City Walmart Neighborhood Market – Three days a week we pick up bakery items, frozen meat, produce, and dry goods. The local Walmart also donates money through their community grants program and has awarded us $25,000 for our capital campaign. Their employees have also volunteered at events for Share the Table.
Publix – We pick up bakery items, frozen meat, produce, dairy, and dry goods six days a week. Our local Publix also has a Feeding More Together program that allows customers to donate to Share the Table at the register. That money allows STT to order in bulk from Publix for items that are most needed at our pantry. Publix customers have been amazing with their donations! We are thankful to them and to Publix for creating this program. We have received a total of $24,021 in food products. Publix has also sponsored events and their employees have volunteered.
Harris Teeter – Three days each week we pick up donated bakery items. We have also received frozen and deli item donations. The local Harris-Teeter has made in-kind donations for our backpack program and events and conducted food drives benefitting Share the Table. Their manager, Chris Rivenburgh, is on our Board.
Lowes Food – Their program offers customers the chance to purchase “push items” at the register. These items can include soup, crackers, ravioli, cereal, granola bars, and food bags that contain canned vegetables, fruit, peanut butter, mac and cheese, etc. The food, picked up three times each week, is used for our MUNCH (Meals Until No Child Hungers) school backpack program and our food pantry. Lowes customers are amazing! The amount of food they purchase to support Share the Table is incredible. We are grateful to Lowes for the program and their customers for supporting it!
Share the Table could not support our neighbors in need without these partners! We are grateful to the Food Bank of CENC for allowing us to form these partnerships and their continued support.
We are also grateful for the many area businesses, organizations, and individuals that donate funds and food items so we can continue our mission. Click here to learn more about how you can help!
Share the Table is moving and expanding so we can meet the growing need in our community. Our goal is to help more of our neighbors with healthy food items as well as educational resources.
