January is National Sunday Supper Month. This month is designated as a time to remember what it means to share food and fellowship with others. Gathering for a meal regularly is an important part of building relationships with friends and family, and with other members of the community.
At Share the Table, the Sunday Community Meal was launched as a way for those who are lonely and hungry to come together at the table once a week and enjoy each other’s company, along with a filling meal. We are outgrowing our facility, however, and although we continue to provide the meal we have been unable to provide that opportunity to sit down and fellowship with others.
A welcoming place to relax, have conversations with others, and eat a healthy, nutritious meal is important to us and to our clients. That meal can help with mental health as well as physical health and is linked to a list of emotional, social, and physical benefits.
Plans for our new facility include a dedicated dining area so we can once again host a sit-down supper at Share the Table for anyone who wants to join us on Sundays. We look forward to seeing everyone around the table there, enjoying our Sunday Suppers together throughout the year.
Community is important to Share the Table in so many ways. We appreciate the support offered by our community and, in turn, are working to increase our reach to those in the community who need what we have to offer. Our new facility will also include classroom space for nutrition education and increased capacity for healthy, nutritious food in an expanded pantry space.
You can be a Hunger Hero and help us move forward with our plans to build the new facility. Learn more on our Capital Campaign page. Thank you for your continued support!
Our community meals are currently offered as take-out and are open to anyone who is hungry or lonely. There are no eligibility requirements, and families and individuals are welcome.
