Our Story
A Community Built Around the Table
Founded in 2010 by Dawn Ellis, Share the Table operates to fight hunger in our community. Serving our neighbors primarily in Pender and Onslow counties, we support individuals and families with supplemental food.
In 2025, we provided 602,194 pounds of food that translates to 507,111 meals for 9,500 individuals (unduplicated number) through our food programs. With the generous help of local churches and organizations, we fed approximately 200+ people a hot meal every Sunday.
Share the Table is located at 21 Perkins Road in Hampstead. This facility is our fourth location and the first one that we own and the largest by far at almost 10,000 square feet. It opened for clients on August 20, 2024. We now have a commercial grade kitchen, ample space for our warehouse and food pantry, and a comfortable place for our neighbors to join together for a community meal each Sunday. Our new facility has also enabled us to host the Pender County WIC, Pender County Health Dept.,Onslow County Health Dept., Onslow County NC Cooperative Extension, Pender County NC Cooperative Extension and other community resources, as we educate our neighbors on good nutrition, shopping on a budget, and healthy options.
Share the Table is operated by volunteers who help in the warehouse, the food pantry, household store, Sunday meals, food pick up and many other ways. More than 120 volunteers are involved on a weekly basis.
